One day we were out looking for painted rocks (you may have heard of this craze) and accidentally stumbled upon a geocache. You can check out that funny experience because I just so happened to be vlogging at the exact time that I found it. Yes! That is something special right there 🙂 CLICK HERE to see our video
What is Geocaching you may be asking yourself?
Well the simple answer is, it’s like a huge game of hide & seek and your world is the playground. Except you are using GPS/Phone to find caches (or containers) which sometimes have neat items to trade, keep or move it around on its journey.
And of course the more in detail explanation would be: It’s an anytime, anywhere adventure for you and/or your family to enjoy. Trust me, try it once and I am positive you will be hooked. It’s not only a great way to spend time with the family but it’s great exercise and adventure all in one. Geocache containers can come in all different shapes and sizes. They could be in places you wouldn’t think a geocache could be or disguised to blend in with its surroundings. The excitement is not what is in the geocache (box or container) but rather the thrill of the find, discovering new places and everything in between. If you take something, you leave something but there is a lot more than just taking an item. They have trackables, collectibles, tradables and much more that can be found in a geocache which I will go over in another blog post that will be link HERE.
Oh and one more thing, always ALWAYS bring a pen/pencil. Not every log has something to write with
As mentioned there is a lot to cover when it comes to geocaching. It’s a never-ending learning experience that I want to tell the world about! Which is what I will be doing through this post.
So I am going to make a list of different things I want to talk about which will lead you to that specific post. I hope by the end of it, you will be motivated and excited to get out there and find your very first geocache!
- Geocaching Etiquette
- Geocaching Slang
- Why get premium?
- Placing your first Geocache
- Finding your first Geocache

- What’s in your geocache bag
- Things you may find in geocache
We want to take the time to thank you guys for reading this post and hopefully you will share the fun and excitement, just as we are sure you are 🙂 . We also think this fits in perfectly with our frugal lifestyle as other than the gas to get to point A and B, this is something we can go out and do for absolutely free (they also have basic free membership but you really gotta try premium). And the best part is, that we are getting some exercise and exploring new places, almost right in our back yard!
Don’t forget to share this post with your friends and family, they might jump right in!!!!
