Long Weekend Fun

It’s finally here; Victoria Day long-weekend. Also known as May 2-4 but that means nothing to those of us who can’t don’t drink. Nothing against those who do other than jealously of course, lol! Either way, it’s the long-weekend fun outdoors that excites us.

Sadly, there’s nothing that goes on around our area to celebrate the Victoria day long-weekend. You might be lucky and catch someone shooting fireworks off over the river but it’s rare! We usually spend our long-weekend either with family barbecuing, at the beach or both.

We had a few family barbecues over the weekend as well as some downtime at the beach. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand, splashing in the Ocean, going to the ice cream parlor and playing at the park while us adults basked in the sun and enjoyed less bickering than normal, lol.

We had a great Victoria day long-weekend spent with family, fresh air and sunshine galore. We hope you all enjoyed your long-weekend and would love to hear what fun stuff you and your family did to celebrate. Any family gatherings? Did you hit up the lake? Were there any celebratory events in your area?

Gardening Indoors

We haven’t exactly had the weather to be planting a garden yet here and we won’t be able to until June when the frost goes away for good. We decided that since we don’t get a very long growing season that we would do our gardening indoors until it can go outdoors.

image

One of the things that we decided to do, thanks to YouTube, was try growing our potatoes in a plastic tote. The potatoes that we used were from the store and had started by growing eyes. To our surprise they grew!

Another thing that we tried was planting individual garlic cloves which also sprouted:

We also have tomato plants, green onion, carrots, pepper plants and parsley growing in the house right now and hope to get more seedlings prepared for the great outdoors, lol.

We can’t wait for June to get our garden outdoors but we really can’t wait to reap the rewards at the end of the season.

Do you start seedlings for the garden indoors? If so what types?

Blogger Bashing

All these posts going around bashing Mom bloggers or bloggers in general is making me sick to my stomach. When did the haters, AKA other bloggers and parents, become better than the next? What works for one family may not work at all for others. And what parts of our life that we share are up to us, NOT you. So why do the people in the blogging community bash each other? I thought this was a community that helped each other out!

image

We’ve had our share of haters over the years too. We’ve been told that we make other, bigger bloggers, look bad because of something we’ve shared or the way that we decided to word things or what we received in return for the posts even. We’ve had bloggers who we thought were friends bash us to other bloggers who actually are friends and god knows that we’ve probably been bashed by bloggers to brands and PR’s too. I just don’t get it. We don’t bash other parents because we raise our children differently and we don’t bash our fellow bloggers even if they did write a controversial post!

We will never be the blog that shares hate ridden posts about any human being. A few of my favorite sayings are: “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything“, “Live and Let Live” and “Don’t judge my path if you haven’t walked my journey“. The next time you decide to blast others for how they live their lives please think of the above quotes and ask yourself if you have any room to judge.

Mothers Day Wishes

Mother’s day is a day to celebrate the women who have taken care of us growing up and who are helping but mostly raising our children. It’s also a time to celebrate ALL mothers whether they’re birth mothers or not. The ones from our extended family to our circle of friends and even to complete strangers. Which is where this post comes in.

image

We realize that many of you, our readers, are Moms and we know that it’s not an easy task at times. We want to send out some Mother’s day wishes to all of you, wishing you a very Happy Mother’s Day and to commend you for all that you do. May your Mother’s Day be as wonderful as you are!

Homemade Yeast Free Pizza Crust

Making Supper can sometimes be a challenge on school nights. What to make? Pizza is always a favorite here with the little one but finding a quick simple recipe is sometimes difficult.

image

This homemade yeast-free pizza crust doesn’t take long to make and is a great Supper to turn to when rushed. Plus the kids will love it!

What you will need:
• 2 1/2 cups of flour
• 2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 tbsp. oil
• 1 to 1-1/4 cups of water (More if needed)
• Spices: Garlic Powder, Parsley Flakes, Onion Powder, Pepper, Oregano. (To your choosing)

What you’ll need to do:
Pre-heat oven to 400°F. Mix dry ingredients well. Add oil and water. Mix well. Roll dough into a 12″ round pizza pan. This dough is very easy to work with so there’s no need to worry. You can even stuff the crust it’s that easy to work with!

Once shaped in the pan, poke holes with a fork. Be sure to butter the outer crust so it won’t burn. Cover with pizza sauce, your favorite toppings and cheese. Place in pre-heated oven and bake at 400°F for 30-35 minutes or until desired crispiness.

We hope you’ll enjoy this recipe as much as our little guy does and as much as we do for the time saving.
