Becoming a #vegetarian…. I need your help!!! —

I have thought about writing this post for a long time but I always got distracted by something else, well today is the day it gets written 🙂

For a VERY long time now I have had somewhat of a hard time eating meat. I have a very weak stomach for many things and being an animal lover as well, I think it’s just right for me to not eat any meat all together. I usually end up wasting the food I make that contains meat, so I am also kind of sick of wasting food lol. There’s just something I can’t get past when it comes to eating dead animals. (Now I am not saying this to cause any fights or arguments among meat-eats and non-meat-eaters, I am writing this to express how I feel)

Just my opinion here, but I don’t think a poor little animal (who has a soul and feelings just like you and I) should be sacrificed for a meal! There’s plenty to eat out there I am sure, without having to have “Meat” in my diet.

Now don’t get me wrong, I used to eat meat occasionally and enjoy it (such as bacon, turkey and sometimes ham) but I want to change the way I eat and I think I would be MUCH more satisfied eating greens and things that are healthy for me and still get the protein I need, just not while eating the meats. My family still eats meat, just this Momma decided to cut it out! 🙂 I start TODAY!!!!

Like I said, I am writing this post for myself, not to get a debate started.

What I WOULD like, are some ideas of stuff that vegetarians eat and enjoy. I know I can look online for all kinds of different things, so that’s why I am asking you personally, so I might see something a little different then what’s online.. I love hearing personal experiences.

  1. I’ve been a vegetarian for years and my favourite places to find really good recipes are the Thug Kitchen cookbooks. They’re full of protein and really flavourful, healthy ingredients. If you pick up the books the first thing you should make is the burrito with the grilled peach salsa recipe. I’d happily eat that every day.

  3. I eat a lot of salads (with quinoa sometimes), grilled vegetables, whatever fruit is in season. I make a quick no-rise pizza dough sometimes and bake it plain then top it with diced cucumber, tomato and mango with a little bit of cheese (cashew cheese works well if you want to avoid all animal products) or chilly with beans and lentils instead of meat (mango is also really good as topping for this believe it or not).
