Slow cooker ribs with homemade BBQ sauce

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Onions
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsbp Worchester sauce

  •  I usually double up on this recipe for the ribs.
  • I put some garlic salt, herbamare and pepper over the ribs as they wait for the BBQ sauce.
  • Mix all the ingredients in 1 bowl and whisk it. It will look clumpy but that’s normal.
  • Typically we like to make these slow-cooker ribs as the meat falls off the bone! For this we simply place the ribs in the slow-cooker,  pour the bbq sauce over them but our slow-cooker is broke so I turned the oven on to 200 degrees Fahrenheit this morning around 9 and let it cook until Supper.
  • Serve over white rice…

  1. I love ribs done in a slow cooker, I boil them first to get off the excess fat

  2. Not much to say other than Mmmmmmm Ribs!!!!!

  3. Leave out the Ketchup, too much sugar and substitute for fresh tomatoes, skin removed and put through the blender.
Then serve over brown rice or qiunoa.
    Much healthier.

    • A home-made ketchup sounds like a great idea. We don’t eat brown rice here as it’s not good for people on renal diets like myself and unfortunately I can’t find a brand of Quinoa in our area that’s gluten-free. We will definitely give it a try once we do find one though. Thanks for the suggestions. ~J~
