Gluten Free Cauliflower Crust

We love our veggies. Yes the little one too, thankfully! When we first heard of a cauliflower crust we didn’t really know what to think although we were intrigued!
Since we weren’t sure if we’d like it or not we decided to get a head of cauliflower from the discount rack that was is good shape. This way if it just so happened that we didn’t like it we wouldn’t be wasting as much money!
Thankfully, it was absolutely delicious 🙂 So delicious that I had to make it again and share the recipe!
I don’t know the exact site that I found my recipe but it’s pretty much the same anywhere you look.

Gluten Free Cauliflower Crust Recipe

  • 2.5 cups grated cauliflower
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded/grated cheese

Line a rimmed baking sheet/pan with parchment paper &preheat the oven to 425° F.

Grate cauliflower & microwave for 7-8 minutes or until it’s soft. Set aside to cool!
Mix the egg with the grated cheese. Remove any excess juices from the cauliflower using a cheese cloth or paper towels. Mix the egg & cheese into the cauliflower and pat into the lined baking sheet/pan.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden. For a crispier crust bake for 20-25 minutes. Add your favourite pizza ingredients bake for an additional 10 minutes and you have the best tasting healthy pizza that anyone will ever eat!

*I personally like to add spices such as garlic powder, celery salt, pepper,  green onions and dried chive rings to give a bit more flavour to the crust. These can also be frozen for later use.

*Update* We tried to make a crispier crust which ended up sticking to the parchment paper which I’ve never been a fan of anyway! We’ll attempt this again but without the paper and let you all know how it turns out 🙂

  1. Mmmmm cheese, cauliflower, what’s not to love about that! Sounds awesome.

  2. Don’t know if I would try it, but there is always a first time! Thank You for your review! 🙂

I have made the cauliflower “breadsticks” and my entire family loved them. The other recipe we liked was using the cauliflower to make “tots” like potato tots!

  5. This is great! i would try this for sure!

  6. This would be perfect for my house!! I just may try this tonight.

  7. I made this once before and I must of done something wrong because mine didn’t turn out and didn’t taste very good either

    • It may be the recipe you used or it may not be your thing? I add spices and green onions to add a bit of flavour other than the cauliflower tastes. I tried making a second crust that was crispier and it didn’t turn out either. Practice makes perfect I guess. ~J~

  8. Thanks! Would love to try this soon!

  9. We tried it and will be making it again. Great substitute for dough. Just make sure to squeeze out the water before cooking for a firmer crust.

did you like it or was it a one time try.

    • We’ve tried it numerous times and it was something that the son and I liked. The wife not as much. I guess it all depends on your tastes. I love cauliflower and cheese so it tasted great in my opinion. ~J~
