Castello Cheeses #Review …. #Foodies #Cheese

We absolutely love cheese in this house. Cheese fingers, cheese fondue, old cheese, mild cheese, you name it we love it! So it’s kind of given that we’d be extremely excited to have been given the opportunity to review Castello cheese products 🙂

Castello cheese is a brand from Arla Foods and is a premium specialty cheese brand that’s sold all over the globe. They produce many different types of cheese each having their own texture and taste. Some of the delicious types of cheese they make are Danish Blue Cheese, Brie, cream cheeses, feta and other mould cheese.

Unfortunately Blue Cheese isn’t something that the hubby is allowed to eat so we skipped out on this cheese. It seems that this is a huge seller around our area as we found many different varieties in the stores here. We also had a conversation with the Deli worker who informed us that the Feta in oil from Castello was a huge hit as well 🙂

Seeing as the Feta is such a huge seller we weren’t able to get our hands on any and decided to go with their delicious Brie which you may remember us mentioning in another Review? We also decided to try their Camembert cheese which is a soft, white cheese with a mild taste and a soft, almost spreadable texture. The taste of this cheese is similar to Brie and pairs great with breads, vegetables, wines, syrups and nuts.

We aren’t very crafty when it comes to cheese recipes but we do occasionally like to have fondue and absolutely love baked cheese wheels as different ways of enjoy this delicious dairy product.

Seeing as we aren’t very creative with cheese, we decided to take the simplest route and baked our wheel of Camembert 🙂

  • First we thinly sliced off the top.
  • Next we shoved diced onions and garlic into the cheese. Topped w/ fresh chopped parsley. If you want to get even more creative you can also try sprinkling your favorite spices. Cracked peppercorn is a favorite of ours.
  • Then we placed the top back on, kind of like a cover, and baked it at 350° F for 15 to 20 minutes.

Be very careful as the cheese is going to be runny and very hot! Simply dip your favorite dipping snack and enjoy 🙂
