Dofino cheese by Arla
I have loved cheese for as long as I can remember, especially exotic (if you can call it exotic?) cheese such as Gouda, Swiss and Monterey Jack to name a few! So I was excited to be given the opportunity to review a couple of cheese products by Arla 🙂
The first product I decided to try was the Havarti Garden Vegetable. I must say that I have never tried cheese that has spices or vegetables added to it
other than pepper jack, so I was curious to know how onion, carrot, celery, green bell pepper and tomato would taste in a cheese? I can honestly say it was great! We first tried it on its own and then with crackers. It’s mozzarella-ish texture was something I really liked as well as the very mild spicy-ness coming from the mixture of garden veggies, the bell pepper and onion mixture standing out nicely! This is also a very delicious cheese to be added to a salad, even the kids like it (kids+lettuce=No way, lol)! This is definitely something I want to get creative with, who knows what types of meals I’ll create 😉
The second product we went with was another mixture of Havarti Herbs and Spices. This cheese had a wonderful blend of onion, red bell pepper and dill weed. I have to admit it was a bit stinky but tasted absolutely delicious, as does parmesan cheese! This would definitely be something to try in a Mexican dish, as well as in salads, Lasagna and sandwiches.
These are definitely 2 products I would buy again and recommend trying. The price for them is reasonable for the type of cheese, I believe it was roughly $5.00 that we paid for each block 🙂
Here’s the result of what I made with both these cheeses combined!!
A yummy Egg Loaf packed with veggies!
I was unsure of how to use brie in a recipe and upon searching, I’ve noticed that a lot of the recipes I found included sweet ingredients such as apples and maple syrup. I like cheese that is salty so these recipes didn’t really tickle my fancy! I decided to go with a simple baked brie and I loved it as did the rest of the family 🙂 There really isn’t much to brie, I found it to have the same characteristics as mozzarella cheese other than being more moist! It has that great chewy or stretchy texture as mozzarella does yet has a creamier taste to it. Most definitely a cheese I plan on buying again and the price is reasonable as well, being less than $5! If you want to try something out of the ordinary but don’t want to waste money on something you might not like, then this is the cheese to try 🙂
